DBH - as a result of confusion with the common measurement, Diameter at Breast Height (DBH), as well as the loss of several court cases based on the interpretation of DBH, CAV have elected to adopt Average Tree Diameter (ATD). ATD is deemed as the tree diameter based on the use of a circumference tape at 1.4 metres above ground level, taken from the highest point of the natural soil level.
