Dealing with assessments of trees for Local Law permits and VPO3 (Planning Scheme Overlay permits), these are only for trees on Private Property permit applications. Investigation of unauthorised tree pruning/ removal/ damage to trees on private property and on Council land. Assessment of trees for planning applications, investigations into breaches of planning permits (mostly vegetation related).

Working with Local Laws and as a referral body to Planning department. I undertake assessments of trees for pruning and removal under Council's Local Law and Vegetation Protection Overlay. Investigate planning issues and also matters involving unauthorised tree pruning or removal.
Advanced diploma horticulture, Bachelor applied science Horticulture 2001-2004. worked for Arbor Co for 1 year while studying. Worked for Active Tree Services for approx 3-4 years while studying and full time upon completion of degree. Appointed to position of Investigations Arborist October 2006. Have worked for several smaller companies in between whilst studying.

Involved with the management of planning overlays (VPO's, ESO's HO's etc). I manage all planning referrals in regards to vegetation. I assist with Capital works and the resident request program. I am also involved with policy development and strategic planning.
In 1991 I completed a Bachelor of Engineering (Communications) and worked in the security/access control industry for the next 9 years, mainly for Honeywell. My main tasks were design, commissioning and for the last 4 years, project management.
In 2000, I left Honeywell and studied Arboriculture (Diploma) while working for a private tree company and performing all manner of tree work including pruning, removals, root pruning and treatment of pests and diseases. Between 2001and 2005, I worked for a variety of tree companies who sub contracted for the Local Government Sector. I moved to Darebin CC in 2007, after two years as Arboricultural Services Coordinator at Springvale Botanical Cemetery.

I am currently involved with all planning related matters regarding trees and vegetation on private property (including the Tree Protection Local Law). I have ran my own consulting business dealing with Arboricultural and environmental consulting (mainly native vegetation and planning issues). Previous to this I was the manager at Treescape Consulting and before that as the Senior Arborist/ Vegetation Planner at the City of Bayside. I have been involved in contract development (open space/ trees) with many Local Governments throughout Melbourne and with Sydney Water. I have trained at Burnley and in California in the US and RMIT in Planning.

I administer the Knox Planning Scheme overlays relating to vegetation controls (e.g. issue permits to remove and prune trees on private property). I also assess development plans relating to tree and vegetation issues.
Previously I ran my own tree and landscaping business for many years and have worked in the gardening/ landscaping industry since 1969. I have since worked in Local Government as an Arborist in Sale, Launceston, City of Boroondara, City of Kingston and the City of Knox for approximately twenty years.
